Well, it’s been a journey of discovery, this last few weeks, on this Facebook page and website. We’ve seen a thriving community born out of a common desire to do something, realising that the “Forces of Darkness” were on the brink of bringing off a shocking piece of sleight of hand, to achieve some very shameful goals. We have seen our feeling of identity grow, and our knowledge increase exponentially. I’ve learned the strange ways of Facebook, and social networking, been inspired by so many learned advocates of animals, and, at the other end of the intellectual scale, learned what Trolls are ! We know that the fate of our animals lies in our hands… ours and the kindred organisations who, once they have learned of the true awfulness of the core fox-hunters, can never quite rest again.

This election, whichever way it goes, will set a new stage. On it we must be prepared to work hard and consistently – because it’s become clear that this is only the beginning… of a quest to move humanity on to a better place – a place in which all life is understood and respected. It WILL come, but it is our duty to shepherd in the new, and usher out the old ignorances and cruelties.

It’s sad that the man who has set himself up as the bringer of ‘change’ should be the one set to hurl us back into the past, given half a chance. We must not let him get away with it. To me it’s sad, too that electioneering has descended to the level of some bizarre TV talent show. One wonders how well Churchill would have done in this cult of the TV personality, and if we would have won the War, if we had chosen Prime Ministers in this way in the past.

If the best happens, and we manage to deflect Cameron from his gleeful path to power, we will have averted a tragedy, but there will be a mountain of work to be done, to build an animal policy that will be strong enough to resist future threats.

If the worst happens, and we wake up with a Britain dominated by the Countryside Alliance, we will all have a moment of horror and disappointment, but then we will get ourselves together to make the best of it, and function, I suppose, as a kind of “French Resistance”, to try to minimise the damage, and protect what we can, for the day when the ‘occupation’ is over.

Either way – SAVE ME and the strength which has grown among us, will survive, and we will continue to fight for the animals in our care, who do not have voice, and deserve our dedication.

OK… I’m just going to sign off tonight, on the eve of the Day of Reckoning, with my favourite small post on the Facebook page – forgive me - I do not have a record of the name of its lady author, but my thanks to her. She wrote:

“Whenever Cameron says, When I am Prime Minister…, a fairy dies”.

Go, folks – walk tall, and fight for a humane Britain. Our children, and our grandchildren, need us to do this.

Love
